Our Commitment to Social Responsibility
All of us at Brain Candy Publishing were humbled by the wrath of Hurricane Kartrina.
The devastation is still incomprehensible to us. As proud Americans living in the
richest country in the world, we were grief stricken as we watched in disbelief on
television day after day as Americans – babies, pregnant women, the elderly, and children,
were abandoned by those whom they trusted, leaving them without food, or water.
Thank God Americans pulled together as the loving, giving, caring, nation that we are to
support those affected by Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath that followed.
As a nation whatever you did is appreciated. If you said a prayer, donated a dollar,
delivered food, or just became more conscientiously aware of injustice. No matter where
the blame is placed, hopefully, lessons have been learned; let us continue to support
the Gulf Coast citizens of our nation.
As a publishing company we are committed to donating books to organizations like
Katrina Literary Collective, which placed books in the hands of Hurricane Katrina survivors.
Helen L. Edwards, author of our first title Clara’s Imagination, autographed each
book donated with the following message:
Dear Hurricane Katrina Survivor,
There are people in America and around the world that saw on television some of the things you and your family went through. You are a survivor, which means you are strong.
I am proud of you. Even when times are hard, and sometimes life is sad, remember, God Loves You! Don’t forget to say your prayers.
God Bless You!
Best Wishes Always,Helen L. Edwards
PS I hope you enjoy this book.
